Greetings Good to see someone else going beyond the norm and at least interested in another faith besides mainstream. First off let me give you a quick synopsis then suggest two authors that were both instrumental in bringing it to the west. Both good, both offering it to you from slightly differing perspectives. One is called Hazrat Inayat Khan http://www.sufimovement.org/khan.htm Other is calles Indries Shah http://www.serendipity.li/more/lessing_shah.htm The best book to give you a breathtaking look at Sufism is a book called "the knowing heart" by Kabir Helminsky In a very condensed form, Sufism is the mystyical aspect of Islam, a path of not only true love and tolerance of all other faiths but acceptance of all the other world religions. No finger pointing, no exclusivity. I have been a seeker for a long time, never before has something spoke to my heart and mind as this has. Ok, stop me from rambling..
peace and blessings

Sounds a bit like Voodoo. Mystical, spiritual, tolerant. Voodoo gets a bad rap but its actually (in most forms) a peaceful religion. Theres bad in all religions and voodoo has some bad too but its by far the most tolerant religion Ive read about. You wont readily find a believer in me. Im fascinated by religion but Im a devout agnostic. You speak so vibrantly and lovingly about your religion though. Its nice not a lot of people speak that way of their religion. You'll find on this site that more people than you think are open minded BTW. |

I have read little about the Sufi Way and have found many commonalities in terms of tolerance and a desire to live in accordance to Truth. I differ on some major points (FE: I believe "God" is manifested in all living beings) but like/identify with a lot of the Sufi philosophy. |
