I had about 150 books on my shelf today. After taking several of them to the local used store to clear some space, I decided to reorganize. As I went through the list I found that i didn't actually have all of them on the shelf. I was missing about 5 books. AND I found that I hadn't actually posted about 13 books that I thought were listed. OOPS!

I had to say no to a request the other day for a book I simply couldn't find. No one likes to do that. And I really hate that some of these books could have been moved along by now.

So just a suggestion to check your shelf.

Good night!

That is a good suggestion and a timely one for me as well--I have been paring down my TBR and listing quite a few books that I'm no longer interested in--after they sat here and took up space for years!--and also taking some to donate, discovering the condition was questionable after one of my kids borrowed them. I haven't had any requests I couldn't fill yet, but it's better to be proactive I think. Thanks for the reminder!

I also found a couple books showing on my public shelf that I had removed (donated to a church sale after they'd sat on here for a couple years).  They didn't show up on the entire shelf, just when I licked on the Public tab.  It was some kind of glitch in the system and I had to tinker around with the PBS system a while to get the books removed.

So it doesn't hurt to check the public bookshelf option, just to be safe.  I'd hate to have someone request a book I no longer had - and didn't know was still showing as available.

Every blue moon, I set up the computer in the room where I keep my books and go through them, comparing what's on my PBS shelf with what's on the wooden shelf.  I have the same experience as Renee.  Turns out I've stuck a book on a different shelf, given it away, or forgotten to post it.

Regarding not fiinding a book that you thought you had, I use the print option under 'My Bookshelf'.  When I send out a book, I cross it off my printed list.

The list is also handy when I'm browsing Book Bazaar and can check my list for books members are looking for.

If you sort your bookshelf by author, some books will be hidden.  You need to sort by title or by date.

"If you sort your bookshelf by author, some books will be hidden.  You need to sort by title or by date. "

I find this particularly annoying, since I (and everyone I know) sort my books by author.
