I think it would be great if we had a permanent thread at the top of the list for us to post our favorite Romance authors, preferably by the Genre (like Paranormal, Suspense, Historical, etc).  A list like that would be very helpful to people who are new to Romance novels or are new to a sub-Genre of Romance.  As an example, I just recently started reading historical romance and have generally liked what I have read.  Therefore, I want to know more authors out there who write in that genre.

From past experience, it seems pretty hard to get a sticky thread approved - we asked for a deals thread for months, if not years, before getting one. You can start a thread and people will keep it going if they like it, though. And of course you can always ask.

Ditto to what Willa said, plus a thread like that might get too big to be useful after awhile.  If you keep up with the weekly "what are you reading this week" thread you might find some suggestions- I have found a lot of books and authors that I really like from that thread.  Also, you might try using the FABIL feature of this site, and/or just do a search on a book you like, and there will probably be some suggestions of other similar books that come up in the search.  Same with Amazon- I use that feature there sometimes.

Well, I wrote and asked to have the thread.  I also volunteered to keep a current list in the first post.  We'll see what happens.

Personally, I use the All About Romance Special Title listings.  They are updated and are based on reader suggestions.  I'd rather use them than duplicate the work.

I love All About Romance's special title listings. Those are so useful! I just take the title/author and go look at Amazon for reviews or come here for reviews to see what people thought.

yep hard to get a sticky and a thread for our favorites would be huge-mongous! plus what one of us likes another can't stand! I think it's best to browse the weekly what we're reading thread or some about specific themes/authors and note who recommends something you like since chances are good you'll like something else they recommend.

I probably wouldn't look at a sticky thread. After awhile they just get so long.   And people seem to be oblivious to the sticky threads and would start threads asking for the info anyway.  The deal threads and requests are proof of that.  Plus this is the romance discussion forum. So that's what it's for-discussing romance books and authors.
