Does anyone have a recommendation on biographies to be read aloud and shared with a 5th grader?

Sir Isaac Newton

George Washington Carver

Alexander Graham Bell

Thanks in advance!

A Weed is a Flower is a great book about George Washington Carver.

I like that one, Jori, but I am looking for a longer, more in-depth book that will be used for an entire term. Something along the lines of 2-to-4-hundred pages or so, but my daughter has to be able to understand the writing.

YWAM publishing has a biography of George Washington Carver. They even have a unit study to go along with it. If you are interested and would like to, you can use the affiliate link on my website to find out more about it. Click on YWAM Publishing and then look under Hero Biographies. I only saw the Unit Study listed but the biography was on the detail page. Or just put his name in the search box. Both books are under $10 each. They might even be on someone's bookshelf here. :)

I haven't read this particular one, but I have read others in the series. I don't know how old your daughter is but my 9 year old can read these without any trouble. The description says 10+ and it is 192 pages.

If I come up with any more I'll let you know.

We love the YWAM books here! I have not seen the study guides for the older children. I would like to get some, but for now all I have managed to get are the books. I do have a study guide for the younger children's versions and it is very good. Veritas Press recommends one called Ocean of Truth: The Story of Isaac Newton by Joyce McPherson 136 pages. I have not seen this specific one, but I really like all of the others we have.

Hope that helps! :)

Men and Women of Faith Series are very good.  They have many biographies of famous Christians.
