I'm looking for some suggestions on books that have horses, romance and fantasy all together.

I already have:

The Blue Sword & Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley.

All of the Valdamar Series by Mercedes Lackey

A Wind in Cairo by Judith Tarr

The Dun Lady's Jess series by Doranna Durgin (although I'm still waiting for the 3rd book as it's on my wishlist)

Grey Horse by RA MacAvoy

White Mare, Red Stallion by Diana Paxton

I'm looking for other suggestions to add to my eclectic Fantasy collection.  Thanks-Tory

Lady of Fire by Janeen O'Kerry?

From the author's page .. "My own first novel was LADY OF FIRE, a time-travel romance published by Leisure Books in 1996.  I've always had a great interest in Ireland, history, horses and fantasy, and truly enjoy combining all these things in my novels."

I haven't read it, but it sounds like what you're looking for.

And there's copies available in the PBS database.

Have you heard of John Flanagan's Ranger's Apprentice series? It is fantasy (with hardly any magic, though), it has really cool horses, and while there hasn't been a whole lot of romance as of book four, there have been some little hints here and there, and I know there will be. The author is Australian, and book five just came out in the US.

Toby Bishop is a new writer who has a series out about girls and winged horses. The first book is Airs Beneath the Moon. If you want to get a little more science fictiony, Elizabeth Moon's Hunting Party and its sequels have a lot to do with horses. The first fantasy trilogy by Susan Dexter has a horse, Valadan, as one of its characters--I forget if he appears in the first book or the second book. But then there is a series after that that features him. The trilogy, by the way, is excellent, and I like everything Dexter has written. The first three are The Ring of Allaire, The Sword of Calandra, and the Mountains of Channadran.

Green Rider by Kristen Britain.   There is one or two sequels.  Don't remember about romance.  Anyone recall?

Jaran series by Kate Elliott  (although that is more SF than F)

Soulstring by Midori Snyder has a similar feel to those you mentioned, but it is a stag rather than a horse.  She also has a book set in the West, The Flight of Michael McBride.

How about  the Dark Horse Series by Mary h. Herbert

Dark Horse,

Lighthing's Daughter

City of the Sorcerers

Winged Magic

Valorian (a prequel to Dark Horse)

Has magic, horses, and some (at least in the first - romance - nothing to heavy)  been a while since I've read them.

Mercedes Lackey Valdemar books. Most of them have companions in them, which are horses (mostly).

These are more the horse element than the romance element:

The Blue Roan Child http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780439627535-The+Blue+Roan+Child is YA fantasy - it's slow to get going but a pretty good read. There's a copy available here.

If you like Anne McCaffrey, you might try her book The Lady. It's one of her few non-fantasy novels, but it's about a girl growing up on a horse farm and is as well written as the rest of her books. http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780345356741-The+Lady

Martin Greenberg did an anthology called Horse Fantastic, I've never read it, but his 5 Catfantastic anthologies were great. http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780886775049-Horse+Fantastic available here at PBS

Ludo and the Star Horse by Mary Stewart - YA fantasy, set in the "real" world http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780688220174-Ludo+and+the+Star+Horse

The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge - YA fantasy, set in the "real" world http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9781438203201-The+Little+White+Horse

Lyrico by Elizabeth Vincent-Price - YA fantasy set in the "real" world http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780930407216-Lyrico+The+Only+Horse+of+His+Kind+Parabola+Childrens+Library
