I have a friend who's recently gotten into romance novels and loves the Native American genre.  Any good suggestions for authors or particular books I can recommend to her?  I know Cassie Edwards but I'm not a huge fan of hers....any others out there?

LInda Howard's Mackenzie series - Wolf in the first book, Mackenzie's Mountain, is 'half-breed' and it was a good story though I didn't like the emphasis on the native american part being negative to the townspeople. I dont' recall it being emphasized in the other stories. They're reprinted some of these but Mara's story is harder to find because it was in a Christmas anthology and in only one of the combined sets they came out with.

Anything by Sheri WhiteFeather.  She writes mainly Silhouettes but they're beautifully written.

The Braddock-Black series by Susan Johnson (Blaze, Silver Flame etc.) got very good reviews in the AAR site.

Lindsay McKenna writes some books with characters who are Native American.  I enjoy her books now and again.  She has a ton of them out there.

If she like contemporaries Diana Palmer has several with Native American heroes.

Hannah's Half-Breed by Heidi Betts. Hero and heroine grow up in orphanage together.  He gets adopted, she doesn't.  He has a huge chip on his shoulder thinking no one in town likes him because he's a half-breed.

The Half-Breed by Bobbi Smith-this is part of the McBride series and there's 2 authors writing them and I'm drawing a blank on the other one. Maybe Elaine Barbieri.

Joan Johnston has a series about sisters and one of them is Comanche Woman.  One of the sisters is captured by Commanches.  She convinces them she knows magic so they don't harm her.  She's rescued by the Half-Commanche friend of her sisters husband (Texan Woman).

In the Blaze book Hot On Her Tail the hero is a Native American Bounty Hunter and the heroine is a wrongly accused fugative he has to bring in after she skips her bail. But again it's a contemporary.
