The Superman in the earlier comics definitely was nothing like the Superman in the comics today. He was a more mysterious figure like Batman, people knew of him or might have heard of him. He didn't hang around and talk to police. He threatened physical harm and bullied people. Watched people die in front of him with no remorse, stole from people to achieve his goals. In one story he used his powers to collect reward money to give to someone else. Things you would never see the Superman of the late 20th century do. I swear that in two panels of one of the comics, Clark was actually smoking a pipe. Still the comics were actually enjoyable. It was weird to see him not fly and having to leap or run wherever he went
