A book thong is a bookmark that is made from embroidery floss or something simular that has beeds at the end that stay on lay over the spine of the book.  example:  http://crochetme.com/patterns/book-thong

Paige...do you ever make the Thongs shorter...I just made one and it seems really really long...even for a trade size paperback...
