This was my first Sharon Sala read and an excellent one. It really delves into what can happen to a child turned adult when they've been subjected to abuse and the many challenges they face. I've read Dinah McCall (psuedonym) and truly enjoy the texture put into the writings of both. I'm anxious to read more from Sharon.

It all happened a long time ago, so long ago that Tory Lancaster no longer remembers being a little girl who came home to an empty house. Tory is a woman now, trying to leave behind a legacy of abandonment and sorrow, desperate to love but forever afraid to trust. Only in Brett Hooker's arms does she find peace, but there's something Brett doesn't know, something even she doesn't know.
Tory is about to come face to face with her past, a past haunted by a mysterious tattooed man and the doll that was her only friend. With Brett's help she can meet the past head-on--if it doesn't drive them apart. So many secrets, so little time, and all for the love of...Sweet Baby.

Tory Lancaster, now a successful young woman, was abandoned as a child. The experience was so painful that she banished it from her memory and only recalls being jostled from foster home to foster home. As an adult she finds solace, love, and passion with Brett Hooker, but is unwilling to commit to a permanent relationship. Brett accepts Tory's appearances and disappearances, but becomes deeply worried when Tory experiences frightening nightmares that she can't recall when she wakes. Unable to sleep peacefully, Tory is desperate to force her unconscious to the surface. When she realizes that the catalyst of her nightmares is a photograph she took of a carny with a tattoo on his face, pursues her past and the horrible secrets she has buried.

Fairly good book, I don't read a lot of hers anymore and this one has a lot of repeat in it, same stuff over and over and just too much of the 'I love you' 'I love you' 'I love you', alright already, at least it wasn't filled with pages of sex or foul language.
