An interesting book really, A woman chooses to stay in a remote area with her brother and his two children. She is concerned when her brother starts keeping company with Issac, an enigmatic leader of a local commune. She is worried because Issac's influence seems to make her brother Not seem to care as much about her or the children.
She and the children help a man that has been mauled by a bear. He can not tell them much about himself but he is an Marshal attempting to investigate Issac and his group. Carly inherently trusts him and finds an ally in him,and he finds a look into the commune.
It was a very suspenseful book as Carly is torn and frustrated by her brother's strange choices and he does not see the cult for what it is. Soon she is caught up in the commune herself and fearing for herself and the children. The author did a good job of balancing the individual war and the need to survive in a society. There were a few minor things that seemed unlikely but overall, A definate keeper.
