I didn't want to just disappear, but please know that my beautiful daughter died very suddenly and unexpectedly yesterday morning. My heart is broken. She was smart and funny and the absolute light of my life. She turned 35 in January. Know that I love you all, and I'll be back when I can. I just can't believe this is real. |

Oh, no, Vicky. I am so sorry! I literally feel your pain. My 21-year-old son died unexpectedly in 2011. All I can tell you is that the scars on your heart will always be there but you will heal. Let yourself grieve; be kind to yourself and surround yourself with loving, supportive people. If I can do anything for you or help in anyway as someone who has truly been there, Vicky, please do not hesitate to contact me. Hugs!! Last Edited on: 2/24/16 5:41 PM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

Oh Vicky --- any death of a loved one is so difficult, but a sudden one pretty much paralyzes the living. I know from experience that there is light at the end of this horrible tunnel, but get thru that tunnel at whatever speed and in whatever fashion you must --- I will have you in my heart and prayers. My love always. |

Thank you, everyone. The shock has worn off a bit, but it still doesn't seem real. Shelley asked me to post a link to her obituary, and so you can find it here. I wish you all could have met her. She was just an amazing young woman. I appreciate the thoughts and prayers so much. This is so difficult. Valli, how nice to see you here! We missed you terribly, but I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say Welcome back.

I received this from Vicky today: It's been one month since we lost Brianna. I am still working on this new "normal." I still have trouble reading; it's hard to focus on anything. I've been back to work here and there. I'm going to try for four days this coming week. Everyone has been so kind and understanding. My heart just aches. Thank you for checking in with me--and thank the PBS group too. |

Thanks, Jeanne! Vicky and I exchanged a few e-mails, but I haven't heard from her in awhile. I was thinking of e-mailing her to make sure she was okay (or at least as okay as can be expected). Glad I checked here. I won't bother her now but will drop her a line in another week or so. |

Hello all..just popping in to say I'm holding on. The shock has worn off for the most part, which is a relief. I hated that punch in the gut every time I thought about Bri. I worked all five days this week, which is progress. I still have a hard time in the morning and at night, times when I would see Bri and spend time with her. And things will hit me, and grief just washes over me. But all in all, I'm making progress through this maze of emotion. I still miss her so much. So, I have been hunting for these damn Easter eggs. I still have one to find. What a nice distraction in the evenings! Plus, this weekend I'm starting my first quilt. Bri had a lot of t-shirts, and I've decided to use them in a t-shirt quilt. I couldn't give them away, and I wouldn't wear them myself, so this is, to me, the perfect solution. I'll post a picture when I finish it. Thank you all for the notes, emails, thoughts, prayers, and even cards! All this kindness and love truly, truly helps. |

Hi Vicky! So good to hear from you. Making a t-shirt quilt is such a sweet idea. I can't wait to see the finished product, but I hope the process is in some small measure comforting to you. Bless you, Vicky.

Vicky - I think you are coming along great - I have to hand it to you! Keeping yourself busy with the project you mentioned is something I would like to do too (if I could). Thoughts and prayers continue..... I FORGOT about those Easter eggs! |
