Rowena Summers is one of my favorite authors. She often writes about historical class struggles with emphasis on trouble women have in past centuries. This is about a young coming of age woman who is pshed into a loveless marriage, endures incest, falls in love with a young man who is of another class and while strong enough to overcome all the indignities, finds herself often a victim of the social prejudices of the time. A good weekend read. I love the large print of this paperback.
