This book by first time novelist Christine Baker Kline is a powerful suspense story. Cassie Simon is tired of the city so when her grandfather dies and he inherits his house in Sweetwater, Tenn., she takes it as a sign and decides to move to the small town where her mother was born-and where she died when Cassie was three. This move begins a spiritual and emotional quest of rare power as Cassie attempts to unravel her family's past.

Sweetwater by Christine Baker Kline
The water and the tongues in Sweetwater, Tennessee are anything but sweet. A girl who was torn from the family by the tragic death of her mother returns to the homestead to learn more about the event surrounding her mother's death. The family secrets are revealed in shattering ways. This is a beautifully written first novel.
