A most charming Sergeant Cribb mystery, or as the cover says, "A Sergeant Cribb Adventure." Harriet is a student at Elfrida College for the Training of Female Elementary Teachers in the English countryside of summer, 1889. She accepts a dare from classmates to skinny-dip at midnight in the nearby Thames. Thus the adventure begins. If you like your mystery in a historical setting and spiced with gently humorous dialogue, you will be pleased to make the acquaintance of Sergeant Cribb of Scotland Yard and the intrepid Miss Harriet Shaw.

This is a Sergeant Cribb & takes place in the 1880s. It's quite different from the usual Lovesey but I enjoyed it. There were clever red herrings & it left you (me, anyway) wondering whodunnit with only a few pages left to read.
