Can't honestly say I've read the whole book, but you know there is something wrong when one can barely make it past the first 50 pages and even then spent half of those pages mostly skimming the pages in the hopes the writing and plot would get better. Here I am trying to read an easy escapist fantasy while I'm out of commission with a back injury and even with drugs this book can't even meet my minimal requirements for being worthy of finishing. Normally my standards are lower when I'm sick or injured but this book is so poorly executed and consists of characters with absolutely no depth--or personality for that matter--that I gave up bothering with this pedestrian and amateurish story earlier than I normally abandon bad books. The author teaches writing at a community college in her hometown. If that isn't a testament to the decline of education in public institutions then I don't know what is! Please don't spend money on this awful book. If you have to, use a credit and then pass it along to the next poor soul who insists on suffering through this awful tripe!
