I requested a hardbound version specificaly by isbn and recieved the paperback version.  I don't want to cause trouble - but I have the paperback I wanted the hb for a permanent place on my shelf.

So what should I do?  Did the person goof up or did PBS goof up or am I misunderstanding how this works?  I have alway's gotten HB when requested before.

Rachel--

If you confirm that the PBS listing says hardcover, it should be marked as "received with problem -- wrong book".  The wrong binding is the wrong book.  The poster has to ensure all 4 criteria are the same as the PBS record -- title, author, ISBN and binding -- before posting.  You can request your credit be refunded so you can get a hardcover version.  If this was a WL book, you can use "Contact Us" at the bottom of any PBS page to explain what happened and ask to be restored to your spot at the top of the wishlist.

See the Help Center for more details.

Cheers,

Catt

Some publishers use the same ISBN for both paperback and hardbacks. (heck they reuse ISBN's for completely different books sometimes).  But Elizabeth is right-if the PBS listing says hardback than the sender made an error and you should mark the book RWP, Wrong Book Received and you can ask for your credit back. You might not get it as it's the senders choice. But at least it'll be on record.

If you ordered it based on the cover photo and the listing says it's paperback than you're out of luck. But most likely the person who posted the book just used the ISBN and didn't pay attention to other stuff.

Hopefully, your sender will be more responsible than the one that sent me PBs instead of the HBs that were listed under the ISBN.  I was told in no uncertain terms that if I *really* wanted the hard cover book, I should have PM'd them to let them know.

Yeah -- I know -- priceless.  I got a good chuckle out of it.  But I'm still waiting for the "right" book.  :-)

Good luck!

ETA -- It was my first (and only) transaction where I went back and reported that the problem was *not* resolved.  He didn't want to return the credits, he wanted the books back but didn't want to pay the postage.  I doubt anything's been done about him, but at least I got to have some input.

Seriously, Kris, why did you let your subscription to the Psychic Friends Network expire?  They'd have told you to PM him.  Hee hee!

Oy, if ya can't laugh you'll cry some days -- that sure is priceless :-)
