So, I suppose this isn't a new feature, but I just noticed it!  I went to check and see how many books were on my TBR pile (395 - wow) and I see these red W's and green Wa's.  Kinda neat, but yes 22 of the 395 are on WL!   Now I feel like I am hoarding books from everyone!

I think it's a nice feature. When I'm lower on credits, I'll make a push to read some of those WL books. Of course sometimes until I finish reading the book, it's not on wishlist any longer but it still usually goes fairly quickly.

Just kidding.  I have a bunch of TBR books that are WL'd as well.

Carol - this should make you feel better.  I have 180 books on my TBR pile.  I have 57 that are wishlist books.  I have one book that has been there since my first month here at PBS.  On my first page of my TBR, 36 books are wishlisted.  And this is after cleaning out the TBR pile a little this week.

I will admit that even though that long time TBR pile friend is wishlisted, I know that I never read more than a chapter of it at a time because it's about cleaning and it is destined for my keeper shelf.  Sorry friends, some of them I actually keep.

Now, if you will excuse me, I think I must get to reading before I get flogged.  :)

I just went and counted mine, and I have 30 WL books on my TBR shelf!

316 here.  And yeah, that surprised even me.  But it doesn't really matter.  I read the books I want to read and don't really care if they are wishlisted or not.

I know, Lynn!   I have found myself reaching for a book I don't want to read yet just so that I can pass it on!  I think I will stop doing that!

I don't check as I simply refuse to feel guilty about books!   I'll read what I want when I want!   Sounds selfish I know, but books are one of my great pleasures and I am not about to let pressure to read certain books contaminate that!  LOL

I love that feature! And, I always, always read and post those first. I am moving soon, so i posted a whole lot of books. Several were requested right away, so I said "mail in 5 days" or whatever and , gee, just HAD to do catch up reading so I could mail the books out by the time specified. I didn't finsh one in time, but I mailed it out anyway. Oh, well - a promise is a promise. No big deal - my TBR pile is still 6 boxes. Since I keep my TBR books in boxes under my bed, I might have to move up from a twin size bed to a California King!!

I think it is important to not find your reading to be directed by the Ws.  You will seriously start to hate books, reading, PBS and Ws.  I simply use them as guides occasionally.  Honestly, the last 4 books I tried to read were NOT wishlist books.  The one I'm currently reading was a W book when I started it and isn't now, but DS wants to keep it and read it too him, so it's not like I'm posting it any time soon any way.

But looking at the size of your TBR pile and looking at the number of wishlist books makes for great conversations (among other PBSers)

I only have 4 WL books on my TBR pile, but there's only 21 books listed there. That's 20 percent!! I'm actually in the middle of one right now and expect I'll send it out once I finish.

Yeah, I've got about 250 or so I think--at least half my TBR is wishlisted. I used to get all excited seeing those W's, but now I don't even pay attention to them--I read what I want when I feel like it and post the books when they're done, whether WL'd or not.

Is there a way to sort our TBR pile by whether books are wishlisted or not?

I don't really let those "W'"s affect my reading but I did take a count the other day and there were 388 of them that day. Some of them I have read and are at a friends house for her to read before I post them but probably only about 25. The rest are here and waiting for me. I don't let them bother me though.....it is fun to look and see what others want!

Laurie, I don't think it's possible to sort the TBR that way, but you could always suggest it in a feedback if it's important to you. When I was newer, I used to try to read wishlisted books first, and ended up just getting ticked off because often times the book would go through 3 or 4 or even more people before someone actually ordered it! Now I just read what I feel like reading and to heck with everyone else! :D I don't even look at my TBR list until I'm done reading a book and ready to post it--I'm often surprised that a book is wishlisted (or not!) when I get to that point.

I have over 100 books in my TBR pile and some are WL and some are not. Right now, I am banning myself from using my credits on anything except WL books, so I can whittle my pile down. I have BoB so I still trade that way. I do my best to ignore the W's but the WL offers have been pouring in so I try to read a WL book every third book so I can keep my credits at a decent level so I won't miss any WL books. :)

I so admire all of you with such great self-control with only ordering WL books.

About a month ago I had credits up over 50 and went on a PBS credit spending spree--not for me but I got a nice bunch of books for my mom and dad for Christmas and also a bunch for my cousin who is 9. So now my credits are down around the 10 to 15 mark and Wish List books are coming in. I just keep seeing more and more great books in the books available feature. My Reminder list is getting really really big. I'm doing my best to not spend credits. I tell myself the books will still be there. And I so have to get my TBR pile whittled down.

Out of 662 TBR I have 136 WL books.   I tend to read more than one book at a time so I always try to be reading at least one WL book.

Just recently when I was re-arranging my books I took out all of the wish listed ones and put them in one area.  I, too will read them to keep the credits up.

70 of the 382 books on my TBR pile are wishlisted. I let that be one of the factors that decides which book I'll read next, but not the only one. I've already packed my books for Thanksgiving vacation, and I picked about three-quarters WL books and one-quarter books I just feel like reading.

I have about 200 books in my TBR.  The number of WL's vary.  I like to check every day just to see what has changed because it always does.  Some stay on WL for a long time, others come and go frequently.  I like sci/fi and fantasy most, but I have an eclectic mix.  I tried reading some Wl'd books to get credits but found that it wasn't a good way for me to choose books to read.  I may not be in the mood for it yet.  I also have a lot of series' books and some of the series can be long so once I get into a series it may be awhile before I finish.  If I find my interest slowing down on a series, I'll switch to some other book for a time before I go back. I've learned that the W's come and go and that I can buy credits if I need to.  The  W's are not a good way for me to decide which books to read. It's too much like "assigned" reading. ;D

I use my reminder list for things I want to read.  The reason I joined PBS was to move some of the books in my house to your house.  I don't need a lot of books lying around waiting to be read.  If my library doesn't have the book I have listed on my reminder list, then I will wishlist it.  Like one of you posted above, tastes do change.  With over 2.5 million books listed on this site, I don't think I will run out of reading any time soon... (and I don't have to store them...hahaha, BRILLIANT!)

P.S.  My reminder list is 70 books now, and it grows every time I spend time on this site. I love PBS. In a lot of ways it is easier than searching for books in a library.  So many books, too little time.

BTW, a special thanks to all of you who post here with suggestions and favorites : )

I guess I read unpopular books :p  Only 13 of 232 are WL'd, and some of those are in my keeper collection.
