A series of stories for children--but adults may enjoy them too--dealing with the relationship between craftsmen like smith and weavers and masons and the natural world. The stories have a continuity of place and characters in them and are set in the English countryside near Manchester. I was irritated by the dialect; someone else may feel it lends atmosphere and enjoy it.
