I've seen a number of books tagged "unpostable". I guess I'm confused. Did the tagger post an unpostable book and then tag it to warn others that the book might not meet club rules? Did the tagger realize that the tag marks all books in that ISBN not just theirs? Is there a way to remove an tag from an isbn if you didn't put it there? |

just because it is tagged "unpostable" doesn't mean that the person has posted that book, it may be on their TBR shelf. As with other tags members know that TAGS or many of them are just pertinent to the tagger...and to answer your other question, no you can't remove a tag that you did not apply. |

Tags can be used a lot of different ways. I am guessing that the "Unpostable" tag is pretty common for members who use tags for all their books, TBR, posted and others. There is not a way to remove a Tag from an ISBN, but you can opt to see or not see tags, all tags. |

Remember that tags are also for personal use, so every tag on a book doesn't necessarily apply to every copy of that book. I have tagged a lot of books with universal type tags (first in series, etc), but I also have tags that say things like "Send to Karen" or "loaned to Charlie", which have nothing to do with PBS. And I do have a few that are tagged "unpostable". It's to remind me that when I look at my TBR list, I can give that book away, but I can't repost it. Eventually the personal tags will stop showing up as the more frequently used tags crowd them out. In the meantime, just bear in mind that a tag may just be one member's personal info. You can only remove a tag that you applied - you may not remove anyone else's. ETA: I type too slowly. :) Last Edited on: 3/6/08 6:01 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I'd totally forgotten about TBR. That makes a lot of sense but I think a lot of people like me might be confused when reading it on a book they are requesting! |

I have a few books tagged 'unpostable' on my TBR, just as a reminder to myself. |

i've tagged a couple on my TBR shelf unpostable, so that when i finish a book i pop it into the bag for the used book store instead of looking at it again to decide if it's postable. (and i don't try to hurry to read a book to repost it when i can't actually post it.) i also remove the tag when i takeit off my TBR list. |

I've tagged a few things that don't belong on this site as "unpostable", but it's because they are in violation of the posting rules. Obviously I don't know the condition of the items themselves. Unless it's something that appears to not belong on the site (such as a magazine, comic book, etc) then I can't imagine someone would post something unpostable to their own shelf and label it as such. So if it's a legit item, then it should be safe to order. |

I've tagged a couple of TBR books as "unpostable" before. It's to remind me to offer them on the Bazaar when I'm done and not to post them. Trust me... those margaritas make me forgetful sometimes... :) |

I have a book on my TBR tagged with "milk damage". This is a personal remeinder to myself that the book got chocolate milk dumped on it (and my lap). We cleaned most of it up, but I can't imagine posting it. "Unpostable" tags would be something that I would generally ignore and assume were personal tags. Kerry |

<<I've tagged a few things that don't belong on this site as "unpostable", but it's because they are in violation of the posting rules. >> Rather than using tags for that, those items should be posted in this thread: http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=9603 where R&R will evaluate and remove them from the database :-) Cheers, Catt |
