Having met MHC I buy her books because I LOVE her, she is a truly nice person. However, this book was a waste of time and $$$. She had a great idea but the end fell short. She also had the premise of a heart transplant recipient taking on characteristics of the donor and never really developed that theme. So, I am sorry to say that I cant recommend this one.

I was disappointed in this book - I think Mary Higgins Clark is a wonderful author and I have read most of her books over the years. But I think she is running out of steam. This was so predictable and so much like many of her others, I was kind of bored. It's an easy read though and I did read the whole thing because there was the mystery of "who did it" that I just had to find out. I'm glad I got this from my library and did not spend the money on purchasing it.

Good read for a cold winter day. Mary Higgins still can write those page turns. There are parts that are a little slow, but for the most part it's a good book.

I didn't think this book was up to MHC standards.

This is the first and only Mary Higgins Clark book that I was disappointed in. I just didn't think it was close to her normal quality. I have read every book that she had written and loved them until now. But I did find her next new one The shadow of your smile was back on target.

Emily Wallace gets a plum job as lawyer. She gets to prosecute the husband of Natalie Raines, an actress who was murdered. The husband, Gregg Aldrich maintains his innocence. Does a murder 20 years ago involving Natalie's former roommate have any bearing on her murder? This is a good, easy read. The real murderer doesn't get revealed until the end of the book.

Great read, kept me in suspense.

An enjoyable and quick read as always from Mary Higgins Clark. I found this one fairly predictable and I had figured it out by mid way through but enjoyed reading anyway.

It was a very good story and had sort of a twist to the end.

Mary Higgins Clark knows how to enthrall, that's for sure!

The book starts off fairly standard- Gregg is indicted for murdering his estranged wife Natalie Raines, a successful actress. We get a brief glimpse of Natalie through her mother's eyes. She describes her daughter as having stardust clinging to her. The book follows the preparations of Emily Wallace, the assistant prosecutor who is on the case.

A side plot grabbed me in the beginning- Emily's neighbor offers to care for her dog with the intent of gaining access to her house with the nefarious intent of 'touching everything she wore'. It's not long before Emily realizes there is something creepy about Zach.

The book continues on, following the trial, which reveals the details of the crime little by little. Emily is 'young and beautiful' but also smart and leveraging a strong case against the defendant.

About a quarter of the way into the book we get a big twist- Emily, the tough assistant prosecutor, has had a heart transplant after losing her husband in Iraq. The rest of the book unfolds in a very interesting way (which you'll just have to read to find out)centering around the idea of certain 'memories' from the original donor being brought along with a transplanted organ. Just whose heart does Emily have?

I have been reading Mary Higgins Clark for years and she delivers a great murder mystery, yet again, just this time with a very interesting twist.

This is not a difficult read or perhaps 'great literature' but it is highly entertaining. It is a quick and easy read, very enjoyable once you get into into it (took me a couple of chapters to build momentum simply because of the character view point switches). As the plot narrows in on Emily, I felt more drawn in- reading quickly through the other viewpoints to get back to the parts about her.

Great book. A little more predictable then Mary Higgins Clark usually does, but still a very good read.

Not the best, by far...it didn't have that mysterious thrill that MHC usually offers.

Enjoyed "Just Take My Heart", however, didn't think it was as well written as past Mary Higgins Clark novels. I am a huge fan though and will continue enjoying her books for many years to come!

This was a pretty fast book, I never guessed the ending which is unusual for me and I like that it didn't come from out of nowhere. I did expect Emily to end up with someone that she didn't, but it didn't really make a difference.

As always Mary Higgins Clark keeps your attention all through the book and you don't want to put it down.

First of all, I'm glad I got this book from my library, and did not waste $25.95. I usually enjoy MHC and can read her books in a day or two. This one was just too "same old, same old" and was very predictable. In adition to the "murder mystery" (was it really a "mystery") there was a subplot with her neighbor. Could Emily have really been that naive and gullable? And her heart transplant----who didn't guess her donor? I think MHC is writing the same book over and over again. Three stars was generous.

I enjoyed this book very much and would love to read a sequel book about Emily & Gregg.

I enjoyed this story, although regarding the ending - t did tie the story together well enough, but seemed a bit rushed. Good character development and keeps you interested throughout.

Good read. I always appreciate the fact that this author can write a good story without a lot of profanity and vulgarity. Thanks, M H Clark!

This was a very exciting book to read. I found myself not being able to put it down. It really holds your interest! When the main actress in the book is found dead, you want to believe they have arrested the person who actually did it, but something lurks at the back of your mind that they have made a mistake. It is very suspenseful and there is always something going on that makes you want to keep the book in your hand. A very good read.
