Just had an inquiry, I'm sorry I didn't think delete when taken...a bit over 2 years ago! And thank you for the interesting information, Lilia - they really were beautiful books!

S. Marshak (if I read correctly) was a very well-known Russian Soviet poet both children's and adult and also known for his poetic translations of old English poetry. I am not sure he wrote prose. Your second book appears to be the Russian version of Thumbelina by Hans Christian Andersen.
