This is the history of Palestine, pre Israel. It was filled with humor and pathos, and gave me a better understanding of the problems in the middle east, and the history of the jews through out time, but especially since the statehood of Israel in 1948.

This is a fascinating story of the classic Jewish struggle, but such attention to so much detail can be a bit heavy going. I am glad I read it.
