Tales from Sarson Magna Molly's Flashings - Tales from Sarson Magna
Author: Annie Leith
Sarson Magna is a sleepy village where time appears to have stood still - but the appearances are deceptive. Amongst the quaint Elizabethan buildings and modern designer homes passions rage, deception abounds, perversions lurk and snobbery and bigotry would like to rule.

This, the first in a 2-book series, is such a charmer! Gentle, satiric look at contemporary English village life. The story centers around Molly and Hector Parminter, residents of The Hall, the Squire's seat for hundreds of years. Popular belief is that the Parminter's are wealthy, but the reality is that they are hanging on by their fingertips trying to keep The Hall from falling down. The Hall is a grand Palladian mansion, but not big enough to open to tourists and day-trippers -- the solution, paying guests. Molly Parminter is such an endearing character, as she moves amongst the villagers soothing ruffled feathers amongst the "incomers" and the villagers whose families have been in the village for generations. I so enjoyed my time in Sarson Magna and dearly wish there was more to this series than just one other book, "Hector's Hobbies: Tales from Sarson Magna".
