This was my first Linwood Barclay book and certainly won't be my last! I found the characters to be well developed, several twists that I hadn't seen coming, and even a tragic and surprising ending. There were times I found myself laughing out loud (heaven only knows what the people at the next table at the restaurant thought!), cheering on Cal Weaver in his hard tactics to find out who sold his son the last drugs he took before he ended up dead, and at the end, I even found myself tearing up. To me, if a book or movie can bring out those emotions, than it is perfect. I'm already on the search for my next Barclay book!
I love Linwood Barkley 's books, he never disappoints! This is a non stop thriller and I loved it. However I must say I hated the ending. A shocker!
Barclay writes some of the best thriller fiction out there, but this book just didn't measure up. The dialogue was corny and unrealistic, the characters were wooden and unlikeable. The ending was a bit better than the rest of the novel but not by much. This effort just didn't meet the standard Barclay set by his previous novels.
This book has a lot of twists and turns with some unexpected results. Good read!
I'm still a huge fan of Linwood Barclay's (think he's heaps and bounds cleverer than the as of now more popular Harlan Coben), but I have to say A Tap on the Window was a disappointment.
The premise was very contrived. The protagonist, Cal Weaver, just wasn't believable to me and so failed to engage my interest or sympathy for the situation and events he consciously walked himself right into. When you're rolling your eyes when you should be feeling tension...well, that's not good.
So I can't recommend this one. Just not his best. Check out The Accident or Never Look Away instead. 2.25 stars. Meh.

This is among Barclay's better thrillers in my opinion. It sure keeps you guessing all the way through! The title alone had me anxious to read it. I loved the story and all it entailed. Well done!
I loved this story. The writing style is such that you are able to follow along with the main character (a Private Investigator) as he puts together the puzzle pieces of the case, bit by bit. Some interesting twists keep you guessing all along the way. First book I've read by this author and definitely not the last!
