I have a paperback that is covered with clear packing tape. It was apparently wrapped in tape when it was new. It does not look like the cover has been torn anywhere. With the tape on it I thought perhaps someone had mended a tear but I cannot find any. Aside from the tape this is otherwise postable. If you got a book like I described would it be acceptable to you? |

They aren't common, but I have found books that come from the publisher with something like a clear film over the cover (kind of like the protector cover that comes on a new cell phone). They do peel off after a while, but I certainly don't think it would make the book unpostable. |

Some library editions of MMP's have that film, either applied by the library or by the publisher. |

I work in a public library and our paperbacks are "laminated". Most of the books are covered entirely in a clear plastic covering called VistaFoil (no foil but that's what it's called). For PBs that we don't expect to keep long term, things that are updated yearly will at the very least get a re-inforcement along the spine. This is not scotch or packing tape but a thicker mil book tape purchased for this purpose. This may not be what's on your book but I thought I'd tell you what we do. susan/vt |

Thanks-no this is not the stuff that is on library books. I am pretty sure its packing tape as the strips are about the right width.
Thanks for the input. |

I don't think being covered in packing tape makes it unpostable. I wouldn't hesitate to send it out unless, like Cindy said, it was applied pretty badly and all wrinkled up. |
