I taught myself to crochet in a matter of hours and now I can do some very complicated patterns all using this wonderful book. I highly recommend it as a starting point.

This book teaches the different steps in crocheting:
Slip Stitch, Chain Stitch, single crochet, Half double crochet, double crochet, Treble crochet, , increasing and decreasing, Joining yarn, Changing colors, Working in rounds. Everything is covered for left handers.
Then the afghan stitch, Cro-hook, Broomstick lace and hairpin lace.
Then 16 patterns with step by step easy instructions and pictures.This is a GREAT Book.
