I passed by Tawni O'Dell's "Coal Run" quite a few times, because it's not the genre I normally read.  Finally put it on my Reminder list.  Something told me not to pass this one up, so I went back and ordered it.

Wow!  Am  I glad I did, because this has to be, by far, one of the BEST books I have ever read!  I couldn't put it down and wound up reading until 3 a.m. (Not a good idea when I get up at 6 to go to work!).

I just love this author's style of writing!  The way she describes each and every character in a Pennsylvania mining town makes you feel as though you know each one personally.  She makes you laugh and cry and it was one of those books that I hated for it to end!  As a matter of fact, I ordered the other two novels that O'Dell has written.

I loved this book so much that I don't even think I can let it go (Sorry PBS!) because although I don't normally read a book twice, this one is definitely a keeper to read again!

Thanks for the recommendation.  I've looked up the book and it does look good - so I added it to my Reminder List.

For those who are curious, here's a link to the book details page:  Coal Run

Shelia, I read Coal Run too and loved it.  It was awhile ago and I did not keep the book but I know I really enjoyed it right from the first chapter.

Can you tell me what the other books this author has written?

I've read all of her books. Now I see she has a new one coming out in 2010. Just put it on my wishlist.

She's a great author.

I normally don't order books unless they are written by authors like Susan Wiggs, Jodi Picoult and other contemporary romance authors, and this book was so different (narrated by a male), but I knew from the first page on that I was going to love it!  I wish the author had more than 3 books out, because I'd be ordering every one!  :)

I've never read Coal Run, but a few years ago I read Back Roads by Tawni O'Dell.  I found it kind of underwhelming, so I haven't looked for any of her other books.  But I just checked out the summary of Coal Run and it looks really interesting, so maybe I'll add tit to my reminder list.  Thanks, Sheila!
