I really wanted to like this book. I am a molecular biologist with a Ph.D. from a major research university and completely agree with Greenberg's criticisms of the academic research system. But I just couldn't make it past the first thirty pages or so of this book. It's written in the style of an old, bad detective novel...the characters are one-dimensional and for some reason, they talk like jaded cops, even though they're supposed to be nerdy academics. I was very surprised this book even got published, since I can't imagine a professional editor letting such bad writing hit the presses...then I realized it was self-published. It might be worth reading if you want to understand the academic research science world, but otherwise, forget it.
