I belong to Tell Harlequin, where they send me free books occasonally to review.

I recieved some books from Tell Harlequin WEEKS ago and and I have still not seen the survey I am supposed to do. I am going to forget what the books are about.

Does anyone know how long it takes for Tell Harlequin to get the survey up when they send out the books.

Brandy, I'm waiting for this survey, too--I'm dying to unload about these so I can go ahead and forget all about them! ;)  I'll let you know if I hear anything!

I sent them an email a couple days ago about this and their response was that the survey hadn't been sent out yet and that it may be some time ( I can't recall how long- a week or two?) before I would see it.  I know what you mean though - I read the two books 3 weeks ago - by the time I actually get the survey I will have forgotten them (actually I already have).

I just signed up for Tell Harlequin. Can anyone tell me more about it? Like how many books do you receive and how frequently?

I'm not part of this survey program but i think if i were doing it and i had to wait that long i would definitely forget what the book was about too! I can only suggest maybe writting out a review of it for yourself to keep on hand for when the survey does come in so it will spark your memory.

They just sent an email yesterday saying they will be sending out a new book in July.

I don't know anything about them as I just joined a few weeks ago, but anyone interested in joining go to:

www.harlequinambassadors.com

They supposedly send out a few Harlequins for free. You read them, review them, fill out some surveys online throughout the year.

I have been a member for about 6 months. I recieved 2 Love Inspired historicals when I first signed up and just recieved 2 Silhouette Special Editions a few weeks ago.

Filled out my survey today.  I didn't care for this last set.  I really just don't like romances with pregnancy/baby plots...

Yeah - my first set were Love Inspired which I didn't care for and this last set were Silhouette Romantic Suspense which I normally like.  But these were pregnancy/baby  related which I usually avoid like the plague.  "A Weaver Wedding"  was ok but I really disliked "The Family He Wanted".

I haven't received the survey yet - I hope I'll be able to remember enough of the books to be able to answer the questions.

Ugh! I hate pregnancy/baby plots too. I hope they aren't going to purposely send book that are not in the categories I said I read, hoping to steer me to new categories.

A couple of months ago Harlequin did that promotion for free eBooks. Great, I downloaded them, to give them a try. It certainly got me hooked on eBooks, but the regency historical was a pure piece of crap. Now I remember why I stopped reading them. I can't stand when the hero is emotionally cold, aloof, uncommunicable, punishing and emotionally abusive. THAT is not love. And his brother was the same way! I almost jotted off a letter to Harlequin right then & there. That they are still selling that kind of crap when women like Rhianna equate abusive men to love, too.

That's when I thought, okay, maybe I can make a difference by filling out the surveys. But I don't want to have to "work" for the free books, in terms of reading books that turn out to be a drudge for me. I don't like paranormal, historicals & pregnancy plots.

This was the second set of books I surveyed, which was emailed to me today, by the way. The first set was the Intrigue series--I could barely get through them they were so bad, I just skimmed through them. This set, the Special Editions, were much better than the others, but still not my cup of tea. I usually wait a few weeks after receiving them to actually read them, so that they're fresh in my mind when I do the survey.  It's nice to get free books, but afterwards I can't unload them anywhere except at the Goodwill.

Susanna, I really don't think you're missing anything. Really, reading dull books to survey is not so fun, I truly I wasn't all that excited to take the time to read them in the first place as I'm trying hard to get through my TBR pile as much as possible before summer school starts.

Besides, you're my age! We are NOT too old!

EveDallas - when I signed up I indicated that I did not read Love Inspired's but that I did read the Silhouette Romantic Suspense.  The first set I recieved were Love Inspired and the second set Silhouette Romantic Suspence (with the pregnancy/baby plots - ugh).

So I don't think what catagories you said you read has anything to do with what they send you.  Hopefully it will be something you are interested in.

Susanna - I don't know if you were serious when you mentioned the age concern, but I'm 53 and it wasn't a problem.

ok well maybe I'm too young or maybe they think I read too much and won't have time for their stuff...it just *sniff* hurts to be rejected..feel like the people eharmony rejects...sigh..or maybe they figure why send me freebies when I'm already buying their stuff!

Well I finally got the survey.  Hopefully they will see that there's a big contingent of "fans" who hate the baby stories.

What's the format of the surveys? Are they multiple choice or can we write out, "I detest pregnancy plots with a passion!!!"

I may check into signing up... see if I'm qualified.  But, thanks to reading your posts, if I am qualified, I know to wait for the survey before I read the book!  :)
