Having been brought to the king's attention while helping to resolve a murder that occurred within Westminster Palace, Baldwin and Simon are chosen to be part of a royal guard traveling with the queen to France.
This novel, as usual is packed full of political intrique, suspense and danger. In a fascinatin evolution of Jeck's medeival mysteries this novel has become part of a mini-series that began with the previous title, Dispensation of Death, and is quickly building in suspense as the frenzy of Edward II's disfunctional rule and frenetic decision-making uravels a nation and dooms his efforts to rule.
