My children loved this book! We would read it every day and still quote from it: "You can not stop our apple fun. Our apples will not drop. Not one!" Okay we are a strange family, but we have fun and this book is fun. Dr. Suess, excuse me, Theo. LeSieg had a genius for making poetry out of simple words, making his books easy to memorize and quote. Studies show children learn by repetition and memorization early in the reading process and I can recommend this book highly as a help for early readers.
I have read every Dr. Seuss book out there and have loved all of them, but this one gets extra kudos, because not only did it help my daughter learn how to count, it also encouraged her love of books! This was one of her absolute favorites as she was learning how to read all by herself and she read it repeatedly. The illustrations by Roy McKie are adorably simple, great book!
