This is the first book I've read by this author. It was very good and entertaining. I'm going to try to read more of this series with these characters.

A mystery that is witty and fun to read. All about a kennel owner doing a favor for a friend, finding a dead body, needing to find a killer and wanting to get back to her kennel ASAP, but more suspects keep cropping up. A fun and quick read

"Spirited...Witty and Brisk and so lovingly detailed with the fine qualities of bloodhounds that even the most avid dog-hater will be brought to heel"

Note: The Jo Beth Sidden stories are some of the best mysteries I've ever read. I only regret that Virgina Lanier passed away in 2003.

From a web site:
There's a lot of excitement down at Jo Beth Sidden's kennel. A full litter of ten baby bloodhounds is due any day. Though pressed for time, Jo Beth still agrees to do a favor for a friend - find a reclusive, wealthy matriarch's missing cat. But soon afterward, her client is murdered. Now, Jo Beth is looking for a killer. There's a slew of suspects to choose from, too - all potential heirs to the matriarch's fortune. The quicker Jo Beth can solve this case, the sooner she can get home to her dogs and get her life in order. But she's in for a surprise, and a fight she'll never forget.

This series of books just get better & better. You don't have to read them in order, although I'd recommend that you do. Lanier does a good job of bringing the reader up to date on characters, etc. so that each book can stand alone. There are many exciting adventures & mysteries in each book. The reading public is lucky to have had this writer if only for a decade or so. Rest in peace, Virginia.
