I'm almost done reading Tender at the Bone by Ruth Reichl, and I was about to post it, but I was reading up on the posting guidelines, and I'm unsure about the binding. The book is in very good shape for being 10 years old, but it does tend to open to a particular page.  Some people refer to this as a "cleaved spine," which seems to be a big no-no, even though PBS guidelines say ...

Binding:

  • Must be intact, with no separation on the inside or outside of the book
  • If the book tends to open at a particular page, this is OKAY
  • Small amount of fraying or denting at top or bottom is OKAY

What do you guys think?

And as an aside, anyone interested in the book? ;)

A cleaved spine is not the same as the book just opening to a certain page- a cleaved spine is where the pages are actually split apart and you can see through the split to the spine.  Any separation of pages at all makes a book unpostable, but if there is no separation, it's ok to post, even if the book tends to open to the same page.  Hope that helps.

I love Ruth Reichl, and that's a great book!
