I just saw there is a new addition to his Landover series. The Princess of Landover is now on my wish list at the library and Overdrive. The first three were great. I think he kind of dropped the ball for the next 2 so I am anxious to see what this one is like.

I'm not as excited about Princess of Landover as I was for last year's Shannara book The Gypsy Morph, but I'm still definitely going to buy it.

I am curious to see if he's going to tie Landover in with Shannara like he did The Word and the Void.  I'm of a split mind on if I'd want him to do that or not.

I was disappointed that Gypsy morph still leaves a gap between it and The Sword of shannara... but the book was one I could not put down till it was finished!

I'm sure the gap was intentional... Sword of Shannara would have to be at least hundreds (if not thousands) of years after the end of our world. Plenty of room for more stories to come, I'm sure!

I agree with Paul. The gap was deliberate. More room for Brooks to write more cookie cutter stories for us to read ;-)

I'd agree Brooks is a "cookiee cutter" author... but there's nothing wrong with that, and he is really good at it.  I still find them to be fun reads.

I picked up A Princess of Landover from the library and my 19 yo son read it first.  I'm trying to read it now but I'm just not getting into it.  I don't know if it's been too long since I read the last one or if my reading tastes have changed or what.  I'm determined to finish it but all I can think about are the books in my TBR pile I'd rather be reading.  It's due back at the library tomorrow so I'm going to spend this afternoon reading.

I never could get into the Landover series--did read the first one and started the second but never finished it. I've read some of his Shannara stories years ago and they were good but there's many gaps in my reading of them...I really enjoyed some of the later Shannara books like the Voyage of the Jerle Shannara trilogy--but to be honest I like his modern fantasy (Word and the Void, and his most recent Genesis of Shannara trilogy) much better.

Just finished it. It was a waste of time, imo. I have been reading his stuff for over 15 years, and I want something new.

Awww bummer! I was so excited to see the series carry on. I'll still read it but I might not run to the bookstore for it. :P  It's been a long time since I read the last book in the series. I wonder if I'll remember? lol
