I have read almost all of Eric Helm's VIETNAM:GROUND ZERO series and have found each one to be an outstanding read. TET is no exception. America wanted to believe the Vietnam War was coming to an end. The White House and Pentagon were convinced it was so. But the men in the field knew better. Gerber & Fetterman go "fact-finding" from MACV/SOG & trigger an enemy ambush. Robin Morrow's reporter's instincts tell her that despite the daily dog-and-pony show put on by military briefers, things are too quiet. Of course, no one wants to hear that kind of news. But before long, everyone will find out what Gerber, Fetterman & Morrow have suspected...the VC and NVA are far from beaten, and are ready to prove it!

From the back: January 1968. It is the time of Tet, the Vietnamese lunar new year. Both sides have agreed to a cease-fire. But someone has no intention of honoring their words. News out of Washington is that the war is winding down. The mood among GIs is optimistic, for troop reductions in Southeast Asia will soon begin. But the night of January 30 would change that forever. U.S. Army Special Forces Captain Mack Gerber and his team of crack commandos find themselves in Saigon when the Tet offensive is launched. The air of celebration among Vietnamese welcoming the Year of the Monkey quickly deteriorates into death as enemy rockets and mortars bombard the South Vietnamese capital, turning the city into streets of fire. This is the story of the infamous Tet offensive. It is not a politician's story. It is not a journalist's story. It is a soldier's story. Eric Helm is the pen name of two Vietnam veterans, men who saw it all, did it all and lived to tell it all.
