Hi-

I listed a book that was on a wish list.  It was my son's textbook though and has 1 underlined sentence and some notes on a flyleaf.  I messaged the person with the info and said if I didn't hear back by friday then I would cancel the request so s/he wouldn't lose the place in line.  If I cancel I'm assuming the book will be removed from my bookshelf.   There is one person wishing for that book right now and I don't know if that's another person or the same one (if I accepted the request does that person still stay on the wish list until the book arrives to him/her?)   So my question is -if the person doesn't respond by friday and I cancel the request and then repost the book will it go right back to that person again?  Should I wait to repost?  How is t his normally handled?  I almost wish they had stayed more stringent with with textbook rules since this is a novel of sorts.

thanks!
ann

That 1 person should be someone else.  It removes you from the WL while you have a WL offer pendign or Enroute to you.  You go back to #1 if you mark the book RWP or it goes lost or gets cancelled.  This is so people don't get more than 1 WL offer for the same book and so others in line behind can get the book while you are waiting for yours.

But yes if you cancel the request and repost it right away it will offer it to the same person.

Thanks for the info!  But how do you repost a wish list book then?  If that person doesn't want it and you are the one that canceled -so they won't lose their place in line-  how can you tell when to repost?  Do you have to watch the wishlist and when it's gone down a number or two then you put yours back in?

If there is more than one person in the Wish List, you could ask the first person in line to add a RC for "no writing" to their account,  then you post your book, the requestor accepts it, you turn it down for RCs ... and then your book gets offered to the next person, while the first person in line stays in line.

Then they turn off their RCs ... and everybody's happy.

Thanks!  Luckily this person responded and has no problem with the underlining.  I do have another that again was my son's textbook that's awaiting the 48 hour wish list acceptance so I will know how to deal with that if necessary.  I told my son to knock off the writing in the books.  He has some really great english classes that use wishlisted books.
