I made a deal with a member for a 3 for 1 on her books.  I have a restriction though not to receive any books from a smoking home.  She PM'd me that it was a smoking home and we decided to cancel the order.  Apparently, when she cancelled her end, the order went to the FIFO method.  Did I have to cancel my end instead her cancelling the shipping end?

I now have my book on order from someone else that I only wanted in a deal and not waste an entire credit on it.  Does anyone know the correct way to "cancel" a deal?

You should've cancelled the book request, other wise it'll go to the next person in line who has it. I'm not sure if there is anything you can do now. I've had this happen to me before too, so I know how frustrating it is. :0

The exact same thing happened to me a week or so ago.  Yes, you would have to cancel the request on your end as well.  If the 2nd member has already accepted your request you can PM them and explain your situation.  Hoping they'll be agreeable to ending the transaction.   The member I dealt with wouldn't cancel my order and I ended up with a book I didn't really want for a single credit.   Hope you have better luck than I did.

I get so excited about mailing a book, I can't cancel on someone.  I'll take the book regardless,  I thought though that ordering from a specific person's bookshelf, the order would not have reverted back to the FIFO method.

Live and learn right?

Thanks for the help!

This happened to me last week, and I had no idea what was going on.  I was able to pm the person that got my order, and she was happy to cancel it.  She said that she really hadn't wanted to go to the post office anyway.  I have learned to keep a close eye on deals now.

That actually happened to me today.  The transaction had been marked mailed, and PBS had sent me a "Have you received...yet?"  I hadn't.  Next thing I know, it's back on the "requested" page.  Then I realized the original had been cancelled -- either by PBS or the sender (sender is now on vacation...hmmmm), and the original reverted back to FIFO.  It was still awaiting member acceptance so I cancelled, but if the member had already accepted I would have just kept it on order.  It was one I decided to take with a deal.

Boy, I thought I was the only one upset about the system.  I ordered four books from someone about three weeks ago.  I only ordered them because she has sent me books before and they always are in good condition, so I figured what the hell.  She didn't mark them mailed in time, and then I got four books from four different people.  Only one of them in decent shape.  Now I have three unpostable books that I was just trying on for size.  Live and learn:)

Can someone PM me with what FIFO means?  Thank you!
