A simple story written in a decievingly simple manner. An Irish priest struggles with the confession made upon the death of a man by his wife of a secret they have kept for 50 years. When Edna Dennehy tells "the all of it" to Father Declan he finds himself shocked yet, intrigued and must resolve his own feelings in order to grant forgiveness.

This book will draw you into its quirky story. A warm, fuzzy read.

Haien's spare telling of this story is in an authentic voice relaying suffering, dilemma and finally freedom as solid as the Irish seaside in which it is set. The book may be 25 years old, but the story here is timeless. And a bonus is the flyfishing detail.

This book is a very quick read. It takes place in Ireland and deals with a priest and his knowledge of a secret about a town couple that makes things hard for him to accept. This is his struggle with that secret and the people it involves and the story of the people who have the secret and their relationship and how they came to be where and who they are. Nice story.
