It appeared he found her assets more enticing than her charms. Though the circumstances of their introduction were quite unusual' Eve Denver soon realized her good fortune in meeting Richard Dalton. Not only did he most eagerly aid Eve and her aunt in securing a summer house in Brighton - all the ton was there for the Season - but he could make all the proper introductions.

It was a bit off-putting indeed to discover that Richard planned to use her as bait to trap a wily burglar known as Tom. Parading about in her diamonds and gold, Eve thought she detected suspicious behavior among several upstanding citizens. Even Richard himself seemed more than casually interested. And his unsettling proximity promised he could easily be accused of plotting to steal her heart....
