It makes me insane to wait for someone to respond to the 48hr wishlist hold.  Especially when I know there's other people waiting.

You have to get a whole bunch going at once, kind of like an assembly line. That way something is always happening, even if someone is lagging. Never, ever try to do one book at a time! (Said the NEWBIE lol)

It can be frustrating, true.  I recently listed a WL book that I was sure would be snapped up immediately, only to sit and wait for it to get rejected two or three times before being accepted.  It was like a week before I could send that book out.

I'm thinking this person hasn't checked their account  or they would have rejected it already.  They have about 2.5hrs left.  Oh well there's quite a line for the book so I know someone will take it off my hands.  I have several books in my tbr pile that are on wish lists so I'm working my way through them.  Gotta military move next spring and I need to purge, purge purge.

Keep in mind that it is also a holiday weekend and some people may not check in as often. Things sometimes take longer over a normal weekend so, the extra day just adds a longer lag time in responses.

I have a question...I posted a look I had looked up and had one person wishing for it.  I have been checking on it periodically this weekend after posting and it listed members wishing as "0".  Well, the 48 hours expired and it went to someone else!  It still says "0" members wishing.  What's the deal?  I find it hard to believe that someone wl the book with about an hour to go (the last time I checked for the number of people wl the book).  And the wl has stayed at zero.  I'm cornfused!

it is very possible that someone saw you listed the book (whether available or not) and thought that might be a book they want to read and WL'd it.

Mary, I agree that it is insance to wait that 48 hours especially if you have other books you want to mail but only make 1 trip to the post office.  But possibly the person is out of town for the weekend (it doesn't stop WL'd books from going to that person) or perhaps they are out of credits and trying to see if they can borrow one.

I am on my third person for a book request. The first two never responded so  that was ten days, now it's on day two on on the third person and there are only four copies in the system. If this one goes five days that will be fifteen and I'll say forget it and buy it. I understand the patience thing.

I had a hardback, I wasn't going to post any hardbacks since I have to hand them to a postal worker but I had one on WL auto request and since I'm low on credits I sent it. I'm waiting for my credit, I mailed two at once and the WL book didn't go as far as the other one and it hasn't been marked received yet and the other was a week ago. Very frustrating.

I just looked, the book I've requested did have four in the system, I just checked it again, now there is only three which means I'm on the last request. Such a pain.

Well it bumped to the next person.  There are 57 people in line for the book (I checked).  The 1st one probably wasn't around to get the message and will be annoyed to be at the end of the line again. Oh well.

Looks like it might be time for a PSA about using the hold and AR features when your out of town or away from the comp. Im bored and tired of being in bed anyway so I'll go do it.

I was recently looking at the club wishlist and noticed a number of books showing up on that list with "0" members wishing for it, which did seem odd.  The only theory I've come up with is that those were transactions in progress.

How do you see the list, that says how many people are waiting on a book??

Stacy - look up the description of the book, by double clicking on the title - and at the bottom of the information listings (such as ISBN, binding, etc.) you will see "Members Wishing" - it will tell you there if anyone is wishing for it.  Welcome to PBS, hope you enjoy!

Before I went on vacation this summer, I went to the Bazaar forum and posted that I had this WL book available.  I stated that the first person to let me know it was on their WL would have it posted directly to them- AS LONG as they would confirm that they wanted it immediately and send me a PM letting me know it was done.  That way I got the book out to someone who really wanted it and wouldn't make me wait to send it out.  Just a thought!

I also will post directly to someone's wishlist that I know is on all the time (posts daily on the forums).  I seem to get a better response that way then waiting through the list!

I am feeling impatient at the moment.  I ordered a book that has over 100 copies in the system.  After three days, the first person cancelled on me.  It passed on to the second person, and now it has been five days.  Around the third day, I thought about cancelling and finding someone else to order it from directly, but I am trying to do my PBS duty and let it time out since it will make their shelf inactive and not do this to the next person.  So I have to wait until tomorrow for it to start over.  It's making me crazy!  I hope the third person responds quickly.  I'm trying not to look at it, but I know it's there, just sitting....waiting.

Well the 2nd person responded yes and I asked if they wanted the 2nd 2 in the series.  There are WL for all 3 but I would love to mail them all off in one package.

Well, I was on the other side of the waiting game.

One of my books that I have been first in line for - for months and months, was listed, I accepted in less than 1 hour.  This has been the wishlist lottery time for me, so I have accepted quite a few books since this first one.  I kept logging on to see one book after another telling me the mail by dates.

Late last night this book finally timed out.

I just don't get it.

You post it, it is scooped up almost immediately, and then nothing.

Oh well, plenty of others arriving, and I go back to #1. Can you hear my  "I'm number #1" cheer? :(

Everything on my wish list is auto request and I have the credits to back up every single book on there...so for those of you who are frustrated feel free to post directly to my wish list :-)

Members who use the wish list for books they are not ready to accept is a pet peeve of mine here as well.  I have all of my WL books on auto request except the ones where I have more than one version of the book on my list -- I want those books, too, but just one copy!  ;-)  I really do wish more people would use auto request, vacation hold, or the reminder list when appropriate.

I don't mind the 48 hour wait.  I realize not everyone lives at a computer and they need time to respond.  48 hours is not unreasonable.  I do wish that the regular request was also just 2 days and not the 5 LONG days it is now.  Then you would be able to roll thru 4 "can't sends" in just a bit over a week, rather than nearly three whole weeks!

I posted a WL book and it was on Auto request. I sent that book with another it was received in two days. And I've mailed several books since and they have gone across the country and have been marked received but not the one on Auto request. I've PM'ed them and gotten no answer. Making me wish I had taken it to my UBS.

And I had a book I requested, had four in the system, It went to the first three, the first one canceled on the fifth day after accepting, two and three never responded so they went the full five days and number four took a day to accept, finally I get it. Sheesh!
