It has been a month.  I should not have done it to begin with because she had a lot of negative feedback.  I went ahead anyway because she had a huge shelf with a lot of books I wanted.  We did a deal.  I mailed quite a few to her a month ago.  Have not gotten mine.  PM'ed her several times and she always replied with one reason or the other.  Today I noticed her account is closed or suspended.  I guess this means I won't get my books.  Is there anything I can do?

I don't think so. At this point, unless she suddenly decides to do the right thing, you're out of luck. This is why the feedback system exists, to help you to avoid people like her. Unfortunately, if someone were so inclined, they could get a LOT of books through the Boxer program at virtually no expense to them (except the yearly fee) before finally being shut down, so long as they could convince people to 'trade' with them.

Not a boxer, but I'll advise you to advise TPTB of your situation.  Doubt there's much to be done, but it may affect how they handle this member in the future.

Not much you can do-the feedback is there for a reason to let other boxer know that this might be a problem member. PBS probably shut her down for not sending out BOBs and maybe sending out bad books.   They won't give you credits for the books you are out.

I suppose you could try the mail fraud thing but would it really be worth your time?

Actually, you should file a complaint with PBS.

This happened to me too.  Unfortunately, right now you are out of luck with the books.  However, if PBS shut this person down, they won't let the person come back until they satisfy any old "debts".  In my case, the person wanted to come back to PBS so they (the boxer) had to give me 5 credits (which was the number of books I was out of from the BOB).  I didn't have to deal with the person again, the boxer paid PBS for the credits and then I got an email from PBS saying that my account was being credited 5 credits for the outstanding BOB.

In my case, it worked out in the end.  But there's no way to tell if it will work out all of the time.  If PBS shut this person down, I'm sure it was because someone else filed a complaint and the person was non-responsive to PBS.

Wow Yvetter, I didn't know they would do that. That was really nice of them to step in and help like that. And members who get suspended and try to come back should  handle all of their outstanding "debts". It is good to know the site enforces that.

I had pretty good boxing experiences. Most members i traded with were honet and fair. A few dropped several very unpostable books in, but they were readable so I let it go.

Last one I did was a nightmare. Every single book she sent me was completely unpostable. BADLY water damaged, ripped pages or covers, stains. They were gross, even felt gross. I ended up literally throwing every single one of them away. And I pm'd (nicely) just to let her know about not meeting site posting guidelines and she told me off BAD. Told me I am too picky, go buy new books, etc, etc. I was shocked. My transaction archive speaks for itself, I am easy going and NOT picky.

Worst part to me was that it was for like 13 books swap and most I sent her were like new hardcovers, in trade for garbage bound pb's. :( It bothered me enough to suspend my own BOB for a month as a breather, but I am going to try again. Not letting one bad swapper (of course now her feedback has ALOT of mentions similiar to my own, wish it had at the time) ruin a good thing for me! :)

Hope the member lives up to her part of the deal with you. What a bummer. I love the feedback, not only does it give you an idea of swappers history but it gives you an idea of how they deal with bad situations too (leaving snarky or nice responses to feedback).

I didn't know they would do that either. So it's worth complainign to PBS is this person had credits. If they didn't have credits you may still be out of luck.  If they had a lot of negative feedbacks then I'm thinking this is not a case of a family emergency or computer breakdown causing trouble for a normally good Boxer.

I was unaware that feedback existed on PBS. Is this something that pertains only to boxers?

Yes. Only boxers can leave feedback for other boxers.

Because Boxing is a paid service, they more often than not, will keep track of and close down someone with multiple complaints of non-sent boxes. I know atleast one other gal that did this, and they made her too clean up her back debts before they would let her resume. This gal just had gotten in over her head accepting more than she could keep up with, and finally enough complaints triggered PBS to suspend her and talk to her about the situation. She stayed suspended until she either sent the boxes requested or sent credits to cover the books outstanding. I think it took her like 3 months or more, but she did eventually get all of it straightened out and was back as an active member.

I went ahead and reported it just to have it on record.  If nothing happens, at least I  learned to trust my gut instinct.

I did not know either when I reported it.  I just wanted my complaint on file with PBS in case this boxer was doing this to other people as well.  Be sure to keep all email/pm documentation.  I gave PBS a timeline of sorts of the communication ( or lack of communication) in my complaint.

PBS was very responsive to the complaint.  I got an email saying they were sorry that I was having a problem with BOB (a paid service) and they would try to contact th Boxer for info/detail.  I later got an email saying that the member was non-responsive to PBS so the Boxer would be on hold/suspended from BOB.

It was actually months (3 or 4) later that I got another email saying the boxer was now settling the "debt" (to come back to BOB) and my account would be credited with the 5 credits.  I was surprised!  I had already moved on and accepted it as a loss.  I was so impressed with PBS and their handling (and keeping track of) the issue that I donated credits to the Friends of PBS (that's how I got the silver coin).

It may not always work out, but for the most part, I have had some good experiences with BOBs.  My mom is the historical romance reader and this has been the best way to keep her in books! LOL.

Donna, I had the same thing with my second BOB trade...wow, not a good start for me but TPTB were great.  I wrote them after I saw one of the books I had sent the boxer on her bookshelf.  She has never marked the books I sent as received and I have not received the books I requested from her.  I wrote to her once and she said not to worry that they were on the way.  After another week, I wrote the PBS staff.  Apparently, they contacted her and she told them she mailed the boxes a week later than she said she mailed them.  Still, didn't receive the books.  Long story short, the member is suspended or closed (still) and I am out the books but the pending boxer trade has been removed from my account.  I had ordered books for my grandson so I was really disappointed that I didn't get them.  This is the ONLY bad thing that has ever happened to me since I have been a member.  So, I am not complaining and think this is a great site/system for trading books.  You should rest assured that PBS will take care of this in a timely manner.
