I was very pleased with this book. It is told from the viewpoint of a young mountain boy 11-13 years old. The story is about family, but it is also about the events going on in the world at that time from his viewpoint. Very interesting book and easy to read.

This is such an endearing story. It's so touching how this little boy who lives in Carolina in 1910 and is seeing all the new inventions that come into the world then. He feels that this is just about all he can stand he is so excited. The land, the family and the way this story is told will stay with you, make you wish you could go back to 1910 and see thru his eyes the things that we take for granted every day. It was simple time then and family were close. I loved this book.
