All three books in the Shiloh Legacy were wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I love reading of different eras--gives you an understanding and appreciation for what our parents and grandparents lived through.

This is the sequel to In My Father's House.

Life in America in the Twenties hold out the tantalizing promise of peace and prosperity. but things are not what they seem. the peace is not permanent, and the prosperity moves toward its inevitable end. Birch and his family face the grim prospect of losing everything they have worked for. And Max may have to give up all his wealth and influence to gain the son he never knew he had.

I enjoyed reading this book very much. Life in the Twenties in America. After the end of War to End all Wars, soldiers have come home. Focus on 2 of them, Birch Tucker and Max Meyer. Birch goes back to his childhood home in Arkansas. Max now a financial columnist for the the New York times. All things are not what they seem to be. Got to know the characters very well. I give this book 5 stars.

Loved this second book int eh Shiloh series, although I was a bit disappointed that a major character from the first book was not even mentioned and also another minor character. That seemed strange. But it was good to catch up with the others 10 years on. Can't wait to get into book 3

This is book two in The Shilo Triology. For some reason book three never got published. A disappointment because the series was very interesting. A little more challenging to read than your run of the mill crank 'em out novels that generally amount to a lot of words without much content. Even without the third book, it was still well worth the read.

This is the third series from the Thoenes I have read. They have not disappointed. The story is gripping, the characters well developed and believable, history comes alive as revealed through the story telling.

The continuation of the Shiloh community and its inhabitants with the focus on Birch and Trudy's family is true to the history of the period and the area. The compelling characters against the Thoene's foundation in research is once again a great part of what keeps the characters human.
