If you enjoy naval fiction, then you probably also enjoy reading about the what really happened. Before writing his best seller "The Cruel Sea," Monsarrat wrote this series of small stories about the British corvettes he served in and the one he commanded during World War II. What makes it interesting is that he spends much of the time telling you about the men---both naval and merchant seamen---he served with.
