Kayla is a thirty-seven year old divorced mother of two teenaged girls. She bears the emotional scars of a twelve year marriage to a husband who was physically, verbally and emotionally abusive. She made a pact with her two daughters that there would be "no men" in their lives. While the girls were tweens, this rule was okay; however, they are now sixteen and seventeen and want to enjoy the freedom of hanging out with their friends and maybe even dating.
Marley is Kayla's sexy neighbor who lives three doors down from her house. He is very attracted to Kayla; however, all his attempts to get to know Kayla are rebuffed by Kayla. Kayla's teenaged daughters realize the only way to get their mother to loosen up is to get their mother "hooked up" with the sexy neighbor who lives three doors down. Three Doors Down is a really good book that I highly recommend.
