It's all here, complete & unabridged. Set in 17th century England and France, this classic tale tells of valour, intrigue and love. The three friends, Athos, Porthos and Aramis, and their companion, D'Artagnan, fight & love their way through a series of hair-raising adventures. Their exploits, laced with intrigue between the French and English courts and a host of full-blooded subsidiary characters, provide the coulourful framework for a fast-moving, witty and essentially humorous tale.

Normally, anachronistic values don't interfere with my appreciation of a story. However, for some reason in this novel, the hypocrisy of the musketeers' behavior compared with their judgements of others (especially women) was trying. I certainly would not recommend it for children.
The plot is also very contrived.
Overall, for a "classic," I was underimpressed. That said, it is a relatively fun and easy read as long as you're prepared to suspend some of your values along with your disbelief.

Original classic of adventure and romance.

This would be a great book for young children. There are illustrations with no color on every other page, which the child could color.
