This is an absolutely fascinating story! It takes place inside Ground Zero on 9/11 as events unfold and cuts to the past moments that led this blind man and his guide dog to be there. It is an inspiring and amazing story. Roselle, the guide dog, received numerous medals and honors for her heroic efforts. But this man's life is a testament to faith, hope, strength, and optimism. A wonderful book!

I felt cheated when I read this book. I expected the story to be about the dog. Instead, it was filled with past stories of the man's life, and alot of name dropping. Out of all the pages, maybe 20 of them were devoted to what I considered the true story...time spent in the Twin Towers after the attack.

Very informative book! Author shares his life with us, how his parents raised him as a normal kid, taught him to fit into the sighted world. I loved the story of his neighbors calling his parents because he was riding his bike in the street!

He also tells the grueling story of his walk down 78 floors of the World Trade Center and the aftermath of walking away from the tower before it collapsed. The brave people around him who managed to keep their spirits up during this unbelievable ordeal.

Hingson also shares valuable information on being blind, how guide dogs are trained, etc.
While it is a 'feel good' story, it also brought back memories of the terror of this horrific act that our nation will never forget.

Enjoyed the book. Author spoke about his 9/11 experience, growing up blind, his work, how the guide dogs are trained.
