I ignored the author's note and did not read these stories in order. There are a few things that I had to figure out, but this could be read without the back story given in the first two books (which I have now read). In Tiger's Eye, Stacy is dealing with three separate mysteries. The first is continued from the end of book two, she needs to figure out who murdered her father. Second, after a slightly confusing time when her lovely pooch, Thor, is missing, she messes up a spell and Thor comes back with a sick doggie. She takes the sick dog to her aunt, who is also a witch. I guess this does not necessarily make it Stacy's mystery, but it is a recurring aspect of the book. Finally, as Stacy is swimming a dead guy grabs her. So, she ends up having to figure out what's going on with the dead guy in the lake. Honestly, for a book under 300 pages there is A LOT going on in here.

Since there is so much going on, this is a book flew by. I didn't want to put it down. I literally fell asleep with it laying on me. I wish there was a little more about the dogs or the father. I felt like I was going in several different directions at once. I wondered if it was just because I had not read the first two books, but after reading the other two, it still went in several different directions.

I did enjoy this book greatly though. Stacy is extremely funny. I loved her snarky attitude. It was what drew me into the story and made me want to read the other books. The first two books are better than this one, but I'm still looking forward to the third book.
