Before today I'd never heard of this guy. I read the synopsis of Berserk and of course I had to order it! Zombies abound, apparently. Anyway, has anyone else read him? What did you think?

I've read Mesmer, Naming of Parts, Changing of Faces, Berserk, Dead Man's Hand, and Pieces of Hate.

I've got four more, I think, in my TBR pile.

Berserk is more of a vampire novel than a zombie novel, but it's far from a "regular" vampire novel. I liked it a lot.

Naming of Parts is a zombie novel (novella? novelette?) and Changing of Faces is the sequel. The first one is great, the second one is adequate.

Mesmer was good.

I didn't much care for Dead Man's Hand or Pieces of Hate, which are parts #s 1 and 2 of an ongoing series. I believe the third one is out now from Necessary Evil Press. They're beautiful books but I don't much care for the story.

Thanks, Bob. As long as the book is about someone undead trying to hurt the living, I'm into it.

I'll check out Naming of Parts, too.

If you can find a copy of Fears Unnamed, it collects 4 of his novellas.  One of them (and of course I don't have it in front of me), was one of the most depressing horror pieces I've ever read, it's about a guy who is really lucky, for a price.  Really unsettling.  I first read that piece in the collection "As the Sun Goes Down", which was pretty good. Fears also contains White, one of his signature pieces.   I've read and liked The Nature of Balance and Exorcising Angels (a  novella that eh co-wrote, it was in one of the Year's Best anthologies.  I did not like Desolation, I really thought it was bad, and after hearing so much about Face, I was let down by that as well.  I have The Everlasting and Berserk TBR.  Lebbon has also written Dusk, and Dawn, two fantasy novels, but I haven't read them.

I've only read The Nature of Balance and I thought it was just ok. I've been meaning to try another but I've had too many other wish items that keep coming up so I haven't gotten around to it as of yet.

I like his short stories best. White and Other Tales of Ruin is a good collection of meditative horror, but not for you if you want rollicking action. As the Sun Goes Down is a more varied collection that I recommend if you like "weird" fiction.
