In 1993 Liz Tilberis seemed to have it all. She was a working mother with a family who adored her. As editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar, she lived at the center of the glamerous world of international fashion and was widely recognized as one of the most powerful people in the industry. And, in 1993, Liz Tilberis was diagnosed with Stage III ovarian cancer.
Suddenly, she was faced with the challenge of a lifetime, joining the ranks of the 175,000 women in America with ovarian cancer. She underwent major surgery, grueling chemotherapy, and, eventually, when the cancer recurred, a life-threatening bone marrow transplant. Through it all, she refused to let the disease get the better of her, continuing to participate fully in her life as a wife, mother, and even career woman. And she educated herself about the disease that threatened her life. Ultimately, Tilberis concluded that she developed ovarian cancer as a result of infertility treatments she underwent years earlier--a link that the medical establishment has been reluctant to acknowledge.
[This] is a frank, no-holds-barred look into the world of fashion and a candid account of a battle with a debilitating illness. Approaching every obstacle with optimism, humor and grace, Liz Tilberis has written a story that celebrates life...[She is]a passionate, determined, and courageous woman.
